Our client, a growing Dallas area law firm, has a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced Legal Assistant to join their team. 

 

Legal Assistant Job Description

Essential Functions

  1. Answers and directs telephone calls promptly, taking messages and following up when necessary
  2. Prepares and tracks packages and mail sent using Certified Mail Return Receipts
  3. Checks all attorney calendars daily, while keeping up-to-date with upcoming deadlines
  4. Provides files and other materials necessary for any attorney meetings, court appearances, etc.
  5. Initiates communication with attorneys regarding when important assignments are due and when given assignments will be completed
  6. Files documents and ensures that all filing is up-to-date and in the appropriate placement;
  7. Coordinates all arrangements for attorney travel
  8. Prepare expense reports for attorneys
  9. Inputs time as necessary, with accuracy and within set deadlines
  10. Coordinates back-up desk coverage (when necessary)
  11. Routes all mail to the appropriate party on the same day it is received
  12. Accurately and timely prepares binders for interviews, depositions, and hearings
  13. Undertakes file management - opening, closing, and retrieval of client files and highly confidential case files under supervision of an attorney
  14. Assists (2) or more attorneys on confidential projects whenever necessary
  15. Prepares formal correspondence and letters on Firm letterhead
  16. Maintains all office forms and case files in NetDocuments
  17. Manages multiple priorities and meets deadlines
  18. Operates office machines as required (Copies, scanning, mail machine, etc.)
  19. Coordinates conference registrations on as-needed basis

Work Environment

This position requires the supervision of attorneys when handling highly confidential case files. 

 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time in-office position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Qualifications:

Position requires 5+ years of law firm experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary.
