Litigation Legal Secretary (7983)

Job Description:

Downtown Houston area law firm has an immediate need for an experienced Litigation Legal Secretary. 

  • Provide administrative support to one to three lawyers
  • Effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, colleagues and partners
  • Source and verify important case information
  • Produce and file various legal documents such as appeals, motions or petitions
  • Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and redirect calls when appropriate
  • Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders

    • Legal Secretary with 5 plus years of experience in a law firm and civil litigation practice
    • Medical malpractice defense experience, 2 years required, more preferred
    • Knowledgeable of US constitution, legal terminology, regulations, and court system
    • Must be very familiar with all Texas court rules, procedures, and deadlines
    • Familiarity with New Mexico court rules, procedures, and deadlines a plus
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Adobe
    • Experience with document management software (e.g. iManage/Interwoven) preferred
    • Must be experienced and able to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, transcription software, trail support software,Dictaphone, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of litigation management software systems is a plus
    • Requires outstanding time-management and typing skills
    • Requires being comfortable dealing and communicating effectively with a diverse pool of people
    • Requires a high degree of multi-tasking capability
    • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Requires integrity and professionalism
