Marketing Director

Job Description:

Houston area global organization has an immediate opening for a PR and Events Manager (PREM) to be an integral part of our Marketing and Communications team.


The PREM must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative, global communications environment and passionate about B2B marketing and brand building. This position provides day-to-day management of integrated communications programs, while also ensuring that strategies are supported and overall business goals of the organization and our global members are met.

All team members have the following overall responsibilities:

Serve as an integral part of the Marketing and Communications team.

Support development and implementation of corporate marketing/PR plans, strategic recommendations, and initiatives.

Contribute to content creation including conceptualization, research;  writing and editing.

Build relationships with new and existing member firms (professionals, marketing, business development, etc); collaborate on the development, implementation and tracking of member­ focused communication campaigns; and continuously seek opportunities to leverage member activity and content.

Attend weekly status meetings; ensure that all deadlines and needs are met.

Continue to grow professionally; keep up with technology;, and strive to contribute to the innovation and success of the organization and its members.


Public Relations

Lead and participate in research to identify strategic media targets (publications and journalists); building and maintenance of media lists; collaboration on the development of media strategies, stories and pitching; management of press inquiries-; monitoring of news clippings; and management of  day-to-day activities of media plan. 

Create, develop and manage relationships with key reporters and influencers to further increase awareness of WSG and its member firms and professionals as thought leaders in response to breaking industry news or trends.

Direct and participate in the identification, media training, and management of WSG subject matter experts (SMEs); build relationships with WSG member PR/marketing teams to ensure responsiveness; maintain messaging documents to prepare and support SMEs for proactive and reactive media opportunities.

Secure impactful media coverage in target traditional and online business, industry, national, regional and international press including thought leadership articles, feature organization and firm stories and entrepreneurial profiles.

Oversee and write pre-briefing documents and media outreach reports.

Manage editorial calendar opportunities,  awards and speaking sub missions. 

Follow and/or engage with internal and external stakeholders, including WSG leadership and members, journalists/news media, industry analysts and others to keep abreast of industry and competitive news and trends.

Digital Marketing

Participate in the development and execution of digital marketing strategies and initiatives; develop KPls.

Assist in the conceptualization and management of initiatives to engage WSG' s global members and leverage their subject matter expertise, communications efforts, and content across digital channels.

Direct assigned website development projects and regularly audit existing website to ensure it is SEO and social media friendly.

Provide day-to-day management and monitoring of social media channels and campaigns; ensure social media accounts reflect the latest information and messaging, and utilize metrics to measure the effectiveness of social media and provide regular reports.

Manage editorial calendar opportunities, awards, and content submissions.

Measure the effectiveness of digital marketing initiatives and refine to meet Key Performance Indicators.

Event Support

Manage, support and implement onsite and post-meeting activities for assigned events: planning, budgeting, venue management, logistics, invitation/promotion, speaker/sponsor management and web/mobile site updates.


Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or related field

Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience (public relations, media relations, or journalism)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of AP style

Working knowledge  of public/media relations, traditional and digital communications

Strong project/event management skills; ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Eager to learn, grow and contribute in fast paced environment

Willing/able to travel

*Previous marketing experience in a law firm setting is required*
